Gallstones – prolonged skipping breakfast gives gallbladder stones

gallstones painProlonged habit of skipping breakfast will give rise to gallbladder stones!  Why is this so or is this real?  In order to prevent cholecystitis and gallstones, what are the dietary limitations and precautions?

Gallstones symptoms are serious pain at upper right  portion of abdomen, sometimes coupled with waist and lower back pain, nausea, and cold sweat.  When someone develops gallstones, chance is high that he or she also develops cholecyctitis.  Though it is not a serious disease, the pain attack is too great to endure.  Thus, what is causing gallbladder problems?

When you skip breakfast, the stomach is empty for long time, causing lesser secretion of bile.  Similarly, the bile acid content in bile is reduced and cholesterol content in bile juice will become saturated.  The cholesterol will precipitate in gallbladder and form cholesterol crystals.  Prolonged habit of skipping breakfast will cause these cholesterol crystals to grow bigger.  If you insist on eating breakfast daily, it promotes secretion of bile juice and lowers the viscosity of leftover bile from previous night; thus reduces the possibility of getting gallbladder stones.

In order to prevent cholecystitis and gallstones, you should avoid eating oily and deep fried foods.  This is to reduce the amount of cholesterol and the risk of getting gallstones.  Also, try to avoid sweetened foods as it promotes secretion of insulin that aggravates the precipitation of cholesterol in bile juice causing gallstones. 

Cold food, high protein food, and highly stimulating foods such as peppers, and wine make bile to become viscous; you should reduce the amount of intake.  Should take more foods rich with vitamin A and vitamin C such as fresh fruits and vegetables, fishes that help to dissolve gallstones. 

Practising good and organized lifestyle such as eating breakfast timely, avoiding obesity, and staying relaxed, and getting full rest as these are very useful precautionary measures to prevent gallstones.  Taking a glass of milk during night and eating an chicken egg in morning can allow gallbladder to contract, discharge, and reduce amount of leftover bile in timely fashion.

    Wow, now I'm really glad that I started eating breakfast first thing in the morning! I used to skip breakfast a lot but since I needed to take it easy on my digestion and eat several small meals throughout the day, I got used to it again. Ha, another reason to stick to it, awesome! :-)
